Leveraging Legacy: Dr. Jacqueline on Resilience, Lupus, and Building Excellence

Host Savia Rocks welcomes Dr. Jacqueline, Director of People and Culture and founder/CEO of the Black British Institute of Excellence, to Season 7 of the Us People Podcast for a conversation about legacy, purpose, and growth without judgment.

Dr. Jacqueline shares growing up in late-1960s Birmingham as one of few Black families, excelling at school to avoid bullying, and developing resilience early. She recounts a four-year struggle to get a correct lupus diagnosis after being misdiagnosed with multiple disorders, then persevering through health challenges while continuing her career.

She explains her work at the Gates Foundation leading teams and her institute’s free support for people facing barriers to reaching their potential, including career and business development.

She promotes the October 31 “Leveraging Legacy” event and provides contact info@bbie.org.uk.
